my favourite manga - Gunslinger Girl (2002 - 2012)

A few years ago, my brother Jean and I transferred to a new government organization. Going by the name “The Social Welfare Agency”, it is ostensibly a charity. If you listen to the PR, we work to aid critically disabled children under the sponsorship of the Prime Minister himself. The reality is that we collect the children for use in experimental technology. We replace their damaged bodies with mechanical ones, use specialized drugs to brainwash them in a process called “conditioning”, and then train them to be assassins. In short, we’re really a counter-terrorism agency created to do the government’s dirty work…
